100 Francs Congo 1965 5 years of independence

This is a gold coin issued to celebrate 5 years of independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1965. The mint quality is proof and the mintage at the time was only 3,000 copies. According to sources, however, about 2,100 of these have already been melted down again, so that only about 900 of these gold coins are still in collections worldwide.

What makes this specimen very special is that it is certified by PCGS with the PR65CAM (Cameo) grade. As of today, there are only 7 better rated editions on PCGS.
