Bauhinia, also known as Hong Kong orchid tree, is a hybrid legume tree of the genus Bauhinia. The fragrant, orchid-like flowers are usually 10 to 15 centimeters tall and bloom from early November to late March. Although it is now cultivated in many areas, Bauhinia originated in Hong Kong, where it was bred in 1880.
