History
The Amur tiger lives in the Far East in the Primorsky region, where its permanent habitat extends to the left bank of the Amur River. The Amur Tiger is the largest tiger on our planet. The Siberian tiger is distinguished from its more comfortable brethren by a dense coat with a thick undercoat and a layer of fat five centimeters thick on the belly. This thick fur and a layer of fat form a kind of shield that protects the tiger from the cold. After all, this tiger has to live in bitterly cold conditions and chase its prey for hours in deep snow.
Amur tiger is one of the most beautiful “cats” in the world, and its colorfulness depends on the season. The most spectacular outfit, an orange coat with dark stripes and white belly, appears in the summer. In winter, the color is a little paler, but this does not make the tiger less beautiful.
The Amur tiger is listed in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources; hunting has been banned in the Russian Federation since 1947.
