History

The 27th Summer Olympics was an international sporting event held in Sydney from September 15 to October 1, 2000. There were 300 medal competitions in 28 sports (38 including subspecies). For the second time in history, the Summer Olympics were held in the Southern Hemisphere (the first was held in Melbourne in 1956).
