Krugerrand 1 oz 2016 Gold Proof 90 years Queen Elizabeth II

This is 1 oz Krugerrand gold coin from 2016 in Proof/PP (Polished Plate) mint quality.

This gold coin was minted in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday and therefore also bears a Privy Mark on the Springbok side (QEII 90).

Especially interesting for collectors: There were only 260 copies of this issue with numbered certificate, which makes it one of the rarest 1oz issue of the Krugerrand.

Front:

The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged. On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

Back cover:

The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin.
