Description

This is the 2017 1 oz Krugerrand gold coin in proof mint quality. This vintage is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand. For this special vintage, the coins were then also minted with a corresponding “50” as a mintmark.

The special feature of the issue for sale is the certification by NGC as a “First Releases” issue with PF70 Ultra Cameo and the signature of Tumi Tsehlo (MD of SA Mint). There are only 387 of these in the world.

Front:

The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged. On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

Back:

The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Above this motif is engraved “1967 – 2017 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY” and the name of the coin. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin.
