This is the very rare 2017 Krugerrand 1 oz Platinum 50th Anniversary Mintmark. This copy is limited to only 2017 copies worldwide and for this reason is particularly popular with collectors and enthusiasts around the world. This platinum coin was produced and minted on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the famous gold Krugerrand.

The obverse of the Krugerrand platinum coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged. On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

The reverse of the Krugerrand platinum coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Above this motif is engraved “1967 – 2017 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY” and the name of the coin. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin.
