Krugerrand 2007 Mintmark 40th Anniversary 1oz Proof Gold

This is the Krugerrand Launch Set from 2007. This set consists of the 2007 Krugerrand 1 oz gold coin with the 40th anniversary mintmark.

The set also includes a medal in honor of the official first minting of the Krugerrand on July 3, 1967 by Dr. Diedericks.

The Launch Set has a very low production run of only 395 pieces.

Front:

The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged.

On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

Back:

The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin. In addition, you can see the “40 years” anniversary mintmark.

The set is packed in a beautiful wooden box. The set also includes a numbered certificate from the SA Mint.
