South Africa Big Five 2019 – Lion – Series I – 1 oz Gold – NGC PF69 UCAM

You see here the 2019 issue with the Series I lion of the famous Big Five series of the SA Mint from South Africa.

You will receive this issue in the Holder of the NGC, certified with the extremely high grading PF69 UCAM (Ultra Cameo), of which there are only a few copies.

The South African coin is produced by the South African Mint. The Big Five Lion gold coin is the second issue of the “Big Five” coin series. Short digression: the “Big Five” includes the following animals: elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard. The Big Five Lion gold coin is strictly limited with a mintage of only 500 pieces worldwide and for this reason very popular with collectors and coin lovers.

What is special about the Big Five coin series? The reverse of the coins was designed with two halves of an animal portrait. This creates a very special effect: two coins side by side create a full close-up portrait of one of the Big Five, and one row shows a pride of animals (in this case, that of a pride of lions).

The obverse side of this rare coin shows a lion. Below this motif is clearly visible the country of origin “SOUTH AFRICA”, the series name “BIG FIVE” and the year of mintage “2019”.

Back cover:

On the reverse side you can see two halves of a lion portrait on the gold coin. In the middle of these portraits, the nominal value “FIFTY RAND”, the weight “1oz” and the fineness “Au 999.9” can be seen in a circle.
